FINDICON - Copyright Logica UK Limited, 1995
--------------------------------------------
This application is a useful little utility if you suffer
from the problem of having too many groups in Program Manager.
FindIcon loads in all the group details, and presents a sorted
list of the item details.
By clicking on the name of an item, it is possible to choose to
Find it (where Program Manager will be brought to the front and
the icon located and selected), or run it (same as before, only
the icon is run).
This utility was written by Logica UK's Information Systems
Division, as a Windows add-in for internal use. It has proved
quite popular, and we decided to share it with the rest of the
world.
INSTALLATION
------------
The following files are part of this package:
README.TXT You're reading it!
FINDICON.EXE The executable
VBRUN300.DLL Visual Basic runtime code
THREED.VBX
To install, simply copy the FINDICON.EXE program into wherever
you want it (somewhere in the path is a good idea, and the
WINDOWS directory is good enough). Copy the VBRUN300.DLL and
THREED.VBX files into your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, if you
don't have them already.
RUNNING FINDICON
----------------
Since the purpose of this program is to help find your way
around the groups in Program Manager, there's not much point
making an icon for it... The easiest way to run it is to go to
the File menu, select Run and (provided the program is in the
path) type FINDICON and press enter.
DISCLAIMER
----------
Logica makes no warranty for FindIcon: it is provided 'as is'
and does not accept responsibility of any sort for any damage
resulting directly or indirectly from its use. FindIcon may be
distributed freely provided that the program remains unchanged
and that this disclaimer is not removed.
COMPATIBILITY
-------------
Since it was 'knocked up', there are many things FindIcon
doesn't do:
- It may not work with alternative Windows Shells
(like RipBar or NDW)
- It may not work with Windows 3.0
- It assumes that the PROGMAN.INI file (which contains the
names of all the groups being loaded by Program Manager) is
in the C:\WINDOWS directory.
FEEDBACK
--------
Please report any problems or comments to Ewan Dalton of Logica
UK, via email to daltone@logica.com.
